persons
from
the
rural
area
availed
this

Vasind
(Thane).
The
facility
of
Eye
Testing,
General
Check-up,
Blood
group
checking
was
provided
without
any
cost.
The
facility
of
taking
Cardiogram
was
also
made
available
in
this
camp.

availed
450
persons
(290
males
&
160
females)
availed
the
services.
-
Cancer
detection
camp
was
organized
in
Bhandup
in
May
2008
in
collaboration
with
Tata
Memorial
Hospital.
It
was
organized
to
detect
mouth
cancer
among
habitual
users
of
tobacco,
cigarettes,
etc.50
people
were
checked
and
were
given
a
card
by
TMH
to
vail
further
treatement(if
necessary)
at
the
hospital.

Blood
Donation
Camps
are
being
organized
by
VKM
in
Bhandup
since
20
years.
This
is
done
mainly
to
create
awareness
about
blood
donation.
-
AIDS
awareness
rally
was
organized
on
World
AIDS
Day
(1.12.08)350
students
&
Teachers
from
various
educational
institutions
of
Bhandup
participated.
They
were
joined
by
150
volunteers
and
staff
members
from
VKM.
Importance
of
creating
awareness
among
the
student
community
was
the
focus
of
the
rally.

AIDS
awareness
workshop
was
organized
for
the
students
of
Lions
Juhu
Nandlal
Jalan
Girls’
College
in
December
2008.
Awards

Bhajan
Competition
is
being
organized
every
year
(since
15
years
)
to
preserve
the
traditional
music

all
over
Mumbai
participated
in
the
same.

Prize
distribution
to
Toppers
–
VKM
introduced
the
“Gunvant
Vidyarthi
Puraskar”
in
1989
to
encourage
students
to
dream
bigger
and
extract
best
performance
in
academics.
This
year

students
(SSC)
and
3
students
(HSC)
were
felicitated
for
securing
highest
marks.

Jeevandata
Puraskar
is
awarded
to
people
who
donate
blood
consistently
for
3
years
in
the
camps
arranged
by
VKM.

World
Women's
Day
is
celebrated
to
create
women
empowerment
and
to
set
an
example
to
others.
The
entire
responsibility
of
organizing
the
programme
is
handed
over
to
the
female
staff
members
of
the
